Saving words from a link

You can keep the story your tutor sent, and the words you looked up, in your own Library and Word Bank. You need a free Stichos account for this, and you can create one right from the story.

Save the story and your words in one go

This button is on links made for you or your class (the ones with a notice above the story).

  1. Read the story and choose the words you want to look up.
  2. Under the story, choose Save this story and your 3 words. The number is how many words you looked up on this visit.
  3. If you’re not signed in, a box opens: Keep this story and your words. Choose Create free account or Sign in. (Not now closes the box.)
  4. Once you’re signed in, with your email confirmed, Stichos saves the story and the words. A message says, for example, “Saved this story and 3 words”.

The bookmark in the toolbar (Save this story to Library) does the same on these links.

One button saves the story and the words you looked up.

Example

Ana’s tutor sends her a Hebrew A0 story on a link made for her. She looks up five words, then chooses Save this story and your 5 words. She creates a free account, and the story lands in her Library and the five words in her Word Bank.

Save one word at a time

This works on every link.

  1. Choose a word in the story.
  2. In the box that opens, choose the tag icon at the top right (Save to Word Bank).
  3. When it’s saved, the icon shows Saved and a message says “Saved to Word Bank”. To take it out again, choose Saved.

If you’re not signed in, Stichos asks you to create a free account or sign in first. On a link made for you or your class, the box Keep this story and your words opens, and it saves the story and every word you looked up on this visit, not just this one.

Save the story on a plain link

  1. Choose the bookmark in the toolbar (Save this story to Library).
  2. If you’re signed in, the story is saved, and a message says “Story saved to Library”.
  3. If you’re not, the sign-up box opens. Create your free account or sign in. Stichos brings you back to the story; choose the bookmark again to save it.

Tip

On a link made for you or your class, stay in the same browser tab while you sign up and confirm your email. Your save waits in that tab and finishes by itself when you’re back on the story.

Find your saved story and words

Sign in to Stichos and open your Library for the story and your Word Bank for the words. A story you saved opens with your own reader settings, not your tutor’s starting point. See Library and Word Bank.

Will my tutor see what I saved?

No. Your Library and Word Bank are yours. Saving isn’t reported to your tutor.

What if I look up more words after saving?

The button under the story changes to Save your 2 words (with your new number). Choose it to save those too.

Is there a limit on what I can save?

A free account holds a set number of saved stories and saved words. If you reach it, Stichos tells you. Learner Plus has no limit on either. See Plans and limits.
