Dashboard at a glance
Your Dashboard shows what happened after you sent a story: who opened it, who finished it, and which words they looked up. It lists your students and classes, each with a small trend of how hard their reading has been. Only links you made for a student or class (tracked links) report here; your plain links report nothing.
The Dashboard needs the Educator Studio plan. If your plan ends, you keep a read-only view. See What if my plan ends? below.
Open your Dashboard
- Choose the mode button at the top of the app (it shows where you are, such as Educator Studio).
- Choose Dashboard.
On a phone, Dashboard is also in your account menu.
What’s on the Dashboard?
From top to bottom:
- Add student and Find a student or class, a search box for your list.
- All students: every student and class, the ones with the newest reading first. Each row shows the name (with a class tag for a class), the language, the unit they’re in and the furthest lesson you’ve sent them, such as “Russian · Unit “Unit 1: First words” · Lesson 4 of 4”, and their trend. It shows the first ten; choose Show all to see the rest. A search shows every match.
- What came back from your links since you last looked (see below), under the students. It shows only when there’s something new, the newest five at first; choose Show all to see the rest.
- Archived, folded: students and classes you archived. Choose it to open the list.
Choose a name to open their page. See Add students and classes.
What does “since you last looked” show?
The first time, the heading is “New since you last looked”. After that, it’s “Since” and the day of your last visit, such as “Since Monday”. Four kinds of news show, newest first:
- Finished: “Noah finished Знакомство с семьёй”, with the lesson number and a count of their lookups. When they finished an earlier story too, it compares their Lookups per 100 words, such as “17 lookups, 9 per 100 words, down from 12”.
- Opened but not finished: “Priya opened Антон в кафе but didn’t reach the end”.
- Chose not to share: “Priya opened Антон в кафе and chose not to share their reading”. The student saw the link’s notice and chose Don’t share, so you know the link works and the student has kept their reading private.
- Not opened yet: a link that’s on and still hasn’t been opened 3 days after you made it, with how many days ago. This one keeps showing on each visit until the student opens it (or until you turn the link off). A student who closes the link without choosing on its notice also shows here, because nothing is reported until they choose.
Finished and opened news shows until you’ve seen it: opening the Dashboard counts everything on it as seen. Archived students don’t appear here.
How do I read a student’s trend?
The trend shows Lookups per 100 words over the student’s last four stories, as small bars, oldest first, with the newest in color. Fewer usually means easier reading. A word sums it up:
- Getting easier: the newest is at least a fifth lower than the oldest.
- Holding steady: within a fifth either way.
- Harder going: the newest is at least a fifth higher.
Only stories read mostly in Assisted count, because in Guided the translation is already on screen and in Solo words can’t be looked up. With one such story, the row shows the number instead, such as “Lookups per 100 words: 10.3”. With none, it says “not enough reading yet”.
The trend is there to help you decide what to send next. It isn’t a grade.
Example
Elena’s Russian student Priya read three stories mostly in Assisted. Her row shows three bars, the newest the lowest, and Getting easier, so Elena moves Priya on to the next lesson.
What if my plan ends?
Your students’ links keep working, and you can still see their reading. A note at the top says your plan has ended, with Resubscribe to Educator Studio. Open the Dashboard from My share links in your account menu.
In the read-only Dashboard:
- You can still open students, classes, and link reports.
- You can’t add, rename, archive, or restore students, or send stories.
- On a student’s page, Delete student deletes them. Under Archived, the button next to a name deletes that student too. On a link report, you can turn a link off (not back on) or delete it.
- Your share links, at the bottom, lists every link you made, plain and tracked: the story’s title, then Plain link or the student’s name. Choose Turn off (a link that’s off says Off) or Delete link. Stichos asks “Delete this link?” first. Show more loads the rest of a long list.
Why is my Dashboard empty?
It shows “No students yet” until you add a student or class. To add one, make a tracked link for them in Educator Studio, or choose Add student here. See Links for a student or class.
