Saving and finding stories
Every story you make in the Story Studio goes into Recent in your Library, which keeps only your 20 most recent stories. To keep a story for good, save it: it moves to Saved, and stays until you delete it.
Save a story
Saving needs a confirmed email address.
- With the story open in the reader, choose the bookmark in the toolbar (Save this story to Library).
- A message says “Story saved to Library”, and the bookmark fills in.
You can also save from Recent without opening the story:
- In your Library, on the Your stories tab, find the story under Recent.
- Choose … on the right of its card (More actions for …), then Save.
A saved story leaves Recent, so it’s never in both lists.
Example
Sarah makes a Croatian A1 story about a market in Split. She likes it, so she chooses the bookmark. It moves from Recent to Saved.
What goes into Recent?
Recent holds the stories you made in the Story Studio and the Discover stories you opened, newest first. It keeps your 20 most recent: when a new one arrives, the oldest drops off. Save the ones you want to keep.
To take a story out of Recent yourself, see Archive and delete.
Find a story in your Library
- Open your Library, on the Your stories tab.
- Each card shows the title, language, and level, and under Saved the date you saved it. A headphones icon means the story has audio.
- Each section shows five stories at first. Choose Show all (with how many) to see the rest.
- To change the order, use the sort button next to the section’s name (Sort Saved or Sort Recent):
- Saved: Newest first, Oldest first, Title (A–Z), Level, or Language.
- Recent: Newest first, Title (A–Z), or Level.
- Choose a card to open the story in the reader.
In Saved, the story you’re reading is highlighted.
Stories your tutor shared
When you open a tutor’s link while signed in with a confirmed email, the story is added to your Library, under From your tutor (after Saved and Recent on the Your stories tab). It appears the first time you open the link. Opening it again doesn’t add a second one.
- Each row shows the story, with “From” and your tutor’s name. Like the other sections, it shows five stories at first; choose Show all for the rest. Choose a row to open the story through your tutor’s link.
- Updated means your tutor changed the story since you last opened it. Open it and the mark goes away.
- “Your tutor stopped sharing this.” means your tutor turned the link off. The row stays, with the title, language, and level but no story. It works again if your tutor turns the link back on.
- To keep your own copy, open the story and choose the bookmark (Save this story to Library). It moves to Saved and is yours, whatever your tutor does later. Opening the link again doesn’t add it back here while it’s in Saved.
- To take a story off the list, choose Remove on its row, then Remove again to confirm. This doesn’t delete anything for your tutor. It comes back only if you open the link again.
If your tutor deletes the story or the link, or deletes you as a student, the row goes. Stories in From your tutor don’t count toward Free’s 50 saved stories until you save them. Your tutor can’t see this list or anything in your Library.
Stories in more than one language
When Saved or Recent holds stories in more than one language, they’re grouped by language. The language you’re learning now comes first, open, with a check in a filled circle at the end of its heading (point at it and it says Learning). The others start folded and show an empty circle; choose a language’s name to unfold it.
To go back to another language, choose the empty circle next to it (point at it and it says Resume learning), then Switch. Your new stories and the reader then use that language.
Example
Sarah’s Saved has a Croatian group and a Greek group. She chooses the empty circle next to Greek, then Switch, and her next story is in Greek.
Export stories from your Library
Choose … on a saved story’s card:
- Export PDF: Learner Plus and Educator Studio. The story opens in the reader and its PDF is made, with your current Layout and Pronunciation.
- Export EPUB: Learner Plus and Educator Studio. Downloads the story as an EPUB for an e-reader.
On Free, both show a lock, and choosing one opens the upgrade box.
To put several stories in one PDF (Learner Plus and Educator Studio):
- Next to Saved, choose the checkbox button (Select stories). It turns blue and a checkbox shows on each story.
- Tick the stories you want, up to 10 per PDF (the bottom of the Library says so while you select).
- At the bottom of the Library, choose Export PDF (with how many you ticked, for example Export PDF (3)).
- Choose the checkbox button again to leave Select.
On Recent, export waits until you save: the menu says Save to your Library first. For the PDF options, see Print, PDF, and EPUB.
How many stories can I save?
Free keeps up to 50 saved stories; Learner Plus and Educator Studio have no limit. On Free, the bottom of the Library counts them, for example “15 / 50 saved stories”. Archived stories count too.
When your Library is full, a message offers two ways out: delete a story to make room, or upgrade. Recent keeps working either way. See Plans and limits.
It says the story on screen isn’t saved or in Recent.
Opening a story replaces the one in the reader, so Stichos asks before you lose an unsaved one. To keep it, cancel, save it with the bookmark, then open the other story.
It says I’ve saved a lot of stories today.
There’s a daily limit on new saves, on every plan. Try again the next day.
