Do I need an account?
No. You can read a story your tutor sent without an account. You need a free account only to keep the story and your words for later.
What you can do without an account
- Open the link in any browser and read the story.
- Change the Layout: Guided, Assisted, or Solo.
- Choose words to see what they mean.
- Play the story’s audio, if it’s on for this story.
Your tutor’s link works as often as you like, for as long as your tutor keeps it on.
What a free account adds
A free account gives you your own place in Stichos:
- Library: the stories you save, and the stories your tutor sent: a story from a link you open while signed in is added under From your tutor.
- Word Bank: the words you save, with their meanings, to review later.
- Story Studio: stories you make yourself, at your level, in the language you’re learning.
Your tutor won’t see your Library or your Word Bank, or know the story is in your Library.
Example
Ana reads her tutor’s Hebrew A0 story and looks up five words. She creates a free account so the story and those five words wait for her in her Library and Word Bank.
Create a free account from the story
- On the story page, choose the bookmark in the toolbar (Save this story to Library). You can also choose Sign up free at the bottom of the story, when it’s there.
- If a box titled Keep this story and your words opens, choose Create free account. Otherwise the sign-up box opens right away.
- Sign up with your email and a password, or with Google, Microsoft, or Apple. Check the box to say you’re 18 or older and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- If you signed up with an email and password, confirm your email: type the 6-digit code from the email in the same browser tab.
- Answer a few short questions: your name, your languages, and your level. On the plans step, choose Start with Free or Continue with Free to keep the free account.
- Stichos takes you back to the story.
Tip
Stay in the same browser tab while you sign up and confirm your email. Your save finishes by itself when you’re back on the story. On a link made for you or your class, the words you looked up are saved too.
Once your email is confirmed, the story you came from is added to your Library under From your tutor, and Stichos takes you back to it. See Stories your tutor shared.
Already have an account?
- Choose the bookmark in the toolbar (Save this story to Library).
- In the box that opens, choose Sign in. (In the sign-up box, it’s at the bottom: “Have an account? Sign in”.)
- Sign in. Stichos brings you back to the story.
Opening a tutor’s link while you’re already signed in adds the story to your Library under From your tutor, with nothing else to do.
You can also choose Sign in at the top right. Stichos brings you back to the story then too. Choose the bookmark again to save it.
Does signing in change what my tutor sees?
No. A link made for you or your class reports the same reading whether you’re signed in or not. Your tutor sees it under the name your tutor gave you (or your class), never your account, your email, your Library, or your Word Bank. A plain link reports nothing to your tutor.
Does an account cost anything?
No. The free account costs nothing. Paid plans exist for people who want more, and you never need one to read your tutor’s stories. See Plans and limits.
