Delete your account
Delete account, in Settings › Account, deletes your account and its data for good after 7 days. Until then you can change your mind by signing in, or with the link we email you.
How do I delete my account?
- Open the account menu (your avatar at the top of the app) and choose Settings.
- Choose the Account tab and scroll to Delete account. Choose Delete account.
- Read what you’ll lose, what happens to your plan, and the date your account will be deleted.
- Type your password under Your password. With two-factor sign-in on, you may also be asked for a code or passkey.
- Choose Delete my account.
You’re signed out on every device, and Stichos says “Your account will be deleted on … To change your mind before then, sign in or use the link we’ve emailed you.” We also email you, with a Restore my account button.
What’s deleted
The warning lists it: “You’ll lose your Library and Recent stories, your Word Bank, your settings, and any Educator stories and share links (your students’ links stop working). Stories you shared with other learners stay in the shared library, with nothing linking them to you.”
If you tutor, your units, word lists, students, and the reading on your tracked links are deleted too.

What happens to your plan
Deleting sets your paid plan not to renew. The warning shows how many days your plan has left.
- Yearly plan: on the deletion date, you get a refund for the unused whole months. The warning shows about how much.
- Monthly plan or free trial: no refund. Deleting ends it. The one exception, a plan that started without a free trial, is in Plan & billing.
Invoices stay with Stripe, our payment provider, because tax law requires us to keep them.
Example
Sarah pays for Learner Plus yearly and deletes her account with about five months left. The warning shows the refund for those whole months. Seven days later, her account is deleted and the refund goes back to her card.
Change your mind within 7 days
Your account is locked, not gone, until the date shown. To keep it, either:
- Sign in with your email and password. Stichos says “This account is scheduled for deletion on … Cancel the deletion to keep it and sign in.” Choose Cancel deletion.
- Open the email we sent and choose Restore my account, then Restore my account again on the page that opens.
Your account comes back as it was, and a paid plan is set to renew again. Signing in with Google, Microsoft, or Apple can’t cancel a deletion: use your password or the email link.
After 7 days
Your account and the personal data in it are deleted for good, and we email you to say so. This can’t be undone, and you can’t restore it after that date. If you make a new account later, a card that already had a free trial won’t get another one.
I sign in only with Google, Microsoft, or Apple
Deleting asks for a password, so Settings says “Set a password in the Password section first to use this.” See Set a password. With two-factor sign-in on, your code or passkey confirms it instead. If you have no password and two-factor is off, sign in again with your provider first; deleting works for the next 10 minutes.
It says my subscription couldn’t be stopped
“Your subscription couldn’t be stopped right now, so nothing was deleted.” Stripe didn’t answer. Try again in a few minutes.
I didn’t ask for this
Restore your account from the email straight away, change your password, and write to info@stichos.com.
